Florence Amerigo Vespucci (FLR) International Airport
Located roughly 4 km north from the city of Florence, connections to the city by public transport are a bit limited. You have the choice of a special coach service, taxi or car rental. There are no train connections or regular bus connections from the airport at all.
By bus
Ataf – SITA Vola in bus
A coach service links the airport to the city centre’s Santa Maria Novella train and bus station taking about 20 minutes traffic permitting. Departures from airport leave every 30 minutes from 6.00 am to 8.30 pm, and then every hour till 11.30pm. Going from the city to the airport, the coach departs from the bus station every 30 min from 5.30 am to 8.00 pm, and then after every hour till 11.00 pm. Tickets may be purchased on board (one-way only) and cost around 4 Euros.

Regular ATAF buses (numbers 5, 29, 30 and 56) leave from near the airport ATAF buses on Viale Luigi Gori

Taking one of these buses is not advisable if you have heavy suitcases. Journey time is also longer as their routes to the main station are not direct.

By taxi
Taxis can be picked up from in front of the arrival terminal or can be called by Radio Taxi. The journey from the airport to the center of Florence usually takes about 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions and costs from about 10 Euros up.

By car
At the exit of the airport, the routes into Florence and onto the motorway are well sign-posted. You can pick up the A1 and A11 motorways just across the road from the airport and if you want to head in to Florence’s city centre look out for the signs for Firenze Centro. Car Rental
The car rental desks are situated in the Arrivals Hall beside the Baggage Claim area and for more information click here. Check with staff for drop-off details. The Rental Car Park is right outside the terminal building.
